Mid Hudson Lightning Reach Semi-Finals at States
The Mid Hudson Lightning traveled to Geneva, NY March 7-9 to represent the East Section in the 2008 New York State Amateur Hockey Association 19UII Tournament. In making their way to Semi-Final Sunday, the Lightning posted a 2-0-1 record and was the number one seed in their division.
The first game was 3-3 tie against a very tall Wheatfield Blades 19U team. Valerie Ferrone, Melissa Evans and Shannon Nelligan scored for the Lightning. On Saturday morning, the Lightning defeated the eventual champion Niagara County Coyotes 4-3 behind 2 shorthanded goals and a hat trick by junior assistant captain Melissa Evans. Lauren Cole also scored for The Lightning.
The third game was delayed almost 6 hours by a power outage in Geneva during an ice storm/blizzard. Including the spring time change, the Lightning got off the ice at 2:00am after defeating host Geneva 8-0.
At 11:00am Sunday, 2007 19UII finalist Mohawk Valley defeated The Lightning 2-0 with a pair of quick 3rd period goals. The Mid Hudson Lightning would like to thank the Geneva Lady Bombers for their warm hospitality.

Mid Hudson Lightning Goes To Overtime
After five games in 42 hours, the Mid Hudson Lighting found themselves exactly where they were last year at this time, facing the Stamford Spinnakers and overtime in the 19UA Final at the Adirondack Northstars Winter Classic XIV. Unlike last year, the Lightning could not force a shootout and the Spinnakers won the game with 53.9 seconds remaining in overtime.
In making the finals again this year, the Lightning posted a 3-0-1 record scoring 17 goals and giving up only 6. To read more about Winter Classic XIV click on the tournament articles tab at left. Until then, congratulations to the Lightning players for playing your hearts out and congratulations to our friends the Spinnakers!

We made our debut as the Harlem Valley Lightning on November 4, 2006 verses the Connecticut Northern Lights at Bontecou Rink on the Millbrook School campus in Millbrook New York. What an incredible beginning! We won the game 2-1 against a tremendous hockey team and were on the way to a 13-6 inaugural season record.
In the game, the girls were led into action by senior co-captains Tori Capalbo and Bianca Parrinello. With 1:44 remaining in the 1st period, #44, Bianca Parrinello, scored an historic premier goal for this brand new team. Co-Captain Parrinello was assisted on the play by none other than Co-Captain Capalbo and current MHL Captain, Sarah Apple.
In the third period, Co-Cap T. scored what proved to be the game winner with 6:43 left in the match. Melissa Evans and Lauren Cole set up the play that chisled the name Victoria Capalbo on the victory one capstone. Freshmen Lucienne Parrinello commanded the win between the pipes. To view the complete results of our inaugural season, click "Team" on the horizontal tab bar and "Results"on the drop down menu. Click 2006-2007 to view the HVL record and 2007-2008 for MHL.
Congratulations to both of the HVL Captains! Co-Cap B is playing Rugby at Oneonta and Co-Cap T is playing on the Hobart Williams Women's Club Ice Hockey Team! We are very proud of these first two genuine program Grads.
